At Lake Ludaš near Hajdukovo,
the regular ringing of birds began 40 years ago, in 1985, as part of an international reed warbler migration research project (Acroproject). Following two spring ringing campaigns, from 1987 onwards, the marking of reed-dwelling songbirds has taken place every summer between mid-July and the end of August, within the framework of ecological research camps.
Over the past four decades, more than 100,000 individuals from nearly 110 bird species have been fitted with aluminum leg rings. Several of the ringed birds have been recaptured abroad, and many songbirds ringed abroad have also been recovered at Lake Ludaš, thereby enriching our knowledge about the migration patterns of migratory birds.
